Louisiana’s River Parishes Tourism Leader Earns Prestigious CDME Recertification, Strengthening Regional Leadership and Advocacy
(LaPlace, La.) – May 21, 2025 – Willma Harvey, Director of Sales and Business Development for the River Parishes Tourist Commission (RPTC), has been recertified as a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME), the highest individual educational distinction in the tourism industry.
Harvey’s achievement underscores her leadership in driving tourism growth and economic development in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist, and St. James Parishes. Offered through Destinations International, the CDME program equips professionals with advanced tools to foster destination stewardship and sustainable tourism. It is considered the gold standard for destination organization professionals and is recognized across the globe for its rigorous curriculum and real-world application.

Harvey’s extensive industry credentials include certifications as a Tour Professional, Travel Industry Specialist, and Government Meeting Professional. She also holds leadership roles with the Destinations International Advocacy Committee and the National Tour Association DEI Advisory Group, among others.
