Buddy B’s Restaurant
Your creative art experience begins with breakfast at Buddy B’s Restaurant in historic Garyville, Louisiana. Explore the beautiful mural outside, and while enjoying one of the Buddy B platters, examine the mural on the wall that shows how the parishes are situated along the Mississippi River.
St. Hubert Rosary Walk
Visit the St. Hubert Rosary Walk, a circular path of a beautiful, manicured lawn surrounded by white posts representing the Holy Rosary. In the center of the lawn is a gazebo that is draped with a variety of beautiful flowers and greenery, offering an ideal setting for reflection. Absorb the serenity and quiet atmosphere before walking over to the St. Hubert Prayer Garden.
St. Hubert Prayer Garden
The St. Hubert Prayer Garden is a small Garden of Eden surrounded by pine trees and beautiful flowers and plants. The inner path of the garden is a Path of Prophets, which represents biblical prophets, starting with Abraham and ending with St. John the Baptist. The path leads to the Way of the Cross and features fifteen stations of the Cross that end at a large statue of Jesus rising from the grave. Take some time to meditate in the garden before dinner.
St. Michael Catholic Church & Cemetery
Your next exhibit is St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Convent, Louisiana. Built on land that was owned by a Free Woman of Color, the church is home to the Lourdes Grotto, the Henry Erben Pipe Organ, and numerous extraordinary art and paintings, including the unique picture of the Lamb of God. After touring the church, feel free to walk through the Cemetery to peruse the beautiful tombs.
Crevasse Restaurant at Poche Plantation
Next door to St. Michael’s Church is the Crevasse Restaurant at Poche Plantation, where you will have lunch. The historic Poche House displays various paintings and unique pieces of art, and the restaurant offers a selection of Cajun and Creole cuisine and tasty steaks and chicken.
