History, Food, & Customs

The History, Food, and Customs tour is an experiential excursion featuring the Creole and Cajun cultures in Louisiana’s River Parishes.  The tour at Laura Plantation: Louisiana’s Creole Heritage Site introduces the Creole history, and the Cajun history is illustrated through hands-on cooking demonstrations during Spuddy’s Cajun Cooking Experience.  The voices of enslaved African Creoles are heard at Whitney Plantation, and the moans and groans of mourning Creole women are heard on the St. Joseph’s Plantation Creole Mourning Tour.  Ragin Cajun Airboat Tours and the Cajun Crab Connection offer exciting outdoor explorations in the bayous and swamps, and the St. Rose Driving Range offers a challenging and exciting golf experience.  Sandwich World and Catahoula’s are where breakfasts are served, and the Cajun Kitchen, Spuddy’s, the Creole House, and La Caretta are the restaurants where lunch and dinner are served.  The History, Food and Customs tour is a magnificent and authentic experience!
