“Christmas Eve” BONFIRES on the LEVEE

December 24 @ 7:00 pm

Free

Experience one of the most unique and spectacular holiday traditions in Louisiana —Bonfires on the Levee, also known as Christmas Eve Bonfires. This centuries-old celebration takes place just a short drive from New Orleans in Louisiana’s River Parishes.

Each year, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, families and friends gather atop the Mississippi River levees to build nearly 200 towering, 20-foot-high wooden bonfires. These bonfires are not only a breathtaking sight but also a way to honor our region’s rich history and cultural heritage.

The excitement of Bonfire Season in Bonfire Country builds with parades, festivals, and open houses throughout the area, culminating in the grand display on Christmas Eve. As night falls, the bonfires are lit, casting a warm glow across the levees and the Mississippi River, creating an unforgettable holiday experience for all who visit.

Join us out here for this one-of-a-kind celebration that lights up Louisiana’s River Parishes with holiday cheer, history, and a sense of community. It’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
