The Spirit of Christmas & Creole Christmas Combo Tour

A Family Friendly Christmas Tour held in The Alley of The Oaks at Destrehan Plantation

November 28th – December 30, 2025

The Spirit of Christmas is a family friendly event and fundraiser for Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center, with thousands of LED lights and decorations, tasty holiday treats ($), Christmas Character greets, Christmas trees, pony rides ($) and much more! The event, named after one of Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center’s therapy horses “Spirit”, is presented by GNOTRC.

  • A ¼-mile walking tour through 5 acres of majestic oak trees.
  • Over 70 lighted frames, 50 Christmas trees, a sparkling lighted tunnel, and features The Cajun Night Before Christmas by Trosclair, with permission from Arcadia Publishing.
  • Fun activities, including:
    • Pictures with Santa
    • Santa’s Workshop
    • Duck Races
    • Christmas Caroling
    • Holiday Treats ($)
    • Pony Rides for the kids ($)
    • Admission Tickets ()

📅 Dates: November 28 – December 30, 2025 (Closed Christmas Day)

Nov. 28th -Dec. 18th (5:30-8:30pm)

Dec. 19th – 30th (5:30-9:30pm)

*Closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and in the event of rain. 

Creole Christmas Combo Tour ($) includes an evening tour of the house and a walking tour of The Spirit of Christmas Lighting in the Alley of Oaks.

During the House Tour, guests will walk in the footsteps of those who lived in the house for 128 years. See, hear, and experience the French customs of a Creole Christmas among the beautifully adorned home in traditional finery befitting the time and style of this historic home as you tour.

This event is a fundraiser for the Greater New Orleans Therapeutic Riding Center (GNOTRC), a nonprofit organization based in LaPlace, Louisiana. GNOTRC provides horse-assisted activities and therapeutic riding services for children and adults with disabilities, promoting increased mobility, confidence, and emotional well-being. Your participation helps sustain these life-changing services.
